Road Movie: Korean-Japanese Art Since 1945

Co-organized with the Yokohama Museum of Art to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic normalization, this exhibition traces 80 years of artistic exchange between the two nations. Through the lens of the 'road movie' genre, it explores how Korean and Japanese artists crossed borders, forged personal networks, and navigated complex connections across tumultuous historical events: Korea's liberation and Japan's defeat in 1945, the Cold War, Korean division, and normalized relations. The exhibition reveals that these exchanges were not always smooth, often marked by ruptures, misunderstandings, and tensions, reflecting each nation's distinct political and historical circumstances.
