The Art of Reading: From Paper to Pixel
읽기의 기술: 종이에서 픽셀로
This exhibition traces the evolution of graphic design since the introduction of horizontal hangeul writing in publishing in the 1970s. It chronologically reconstructs the work of a designer who studied the relationship between text and image during the transition from analog to digital. The exhibition presents the boom of phototypesetting and offset printing technologies in the 1970s-80s, the shift toward graphic tools and web design in the 1980s-90s, and contemporary experiments transcending material and immaterial forms. It examines the dynamic relationship between technical progress and visual culture, expanding the scope of contemporary Korean art.
