Gwanak Kang Gamchan Festival
관악강감찬축제
This festival honors the patriotic spirit of General Kang Gamchan, hero of the Battle of Gwiju, celebrating Gwanak District's historical identity. Launched in 2016 by merging the "Gwanaksan" rhododendron festival (since 1998) and the "Nakseongdae" commemorative ceremony (since 1988), the October festival celebrates this military legacy. In 2026, reaching its 10th anniversary, the festival evolves into a global K-culture event, showcasing Korean dynastic history while building sustainability. Historical neighborhood tours, thematic performances, varied entertainment, educational activities for children, and local economic initiatives animate the celebration.
