Dobong Hangeul Festival
도봉한글잔치
Hangeul, created to express the people's voice, embodies national hope and identity. Dobong is home to historical figures who shaped Korean writing—from Princess Jeong-ui, daughter of King Sejong, to scholars who preserved the language during Japanese occupation, to poet Kim Su-young. The year 2026 marks the 580th anniversary of Hunminjeongeum's proclamation and the 100th anniversary of Hunmangjeongeum, a tactile writing system for the blind. This 15th edition celebrates « Through Darkness, Connecting Hearts » with exhibitions, performances, and hands-on experiences that showcase hangeul's role in Dobong's cultural history.
