The National Museum of Daegu is a cultural facility that preserves, researches, exhibits, and educates about the cultural heritage of Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province. It opened on December 7, 1994. On October 19, 2006, a storage facility was added to the south of the museum building, while the Haesol Hall, a social education center, and a special exhibition hall were added to the north. Afterwards, permanent exhibition halls were reorganized to specialize the exhibitions of regional national museums and secure a stable exhibition environment, and on July 19, 2010, the Ancient Culture Hall, Medieval Culture Hall, and Costume Culture Hall were newly opened. In particular, the Costume Culture Hall, which opened newly to replace the former Folklife Hall, was created based on Daegu's development as a modern city with textile and clothing industries as its foundation. In this space, the history of clothing, which occupies a significant part of our lives, is exhibited and presented through diverse domestic and international materials. In the outdoor exhibition area, megalithic dolmens from the Bronze Age, dwelling sites, pottery kilns from the Three Kingdoms period, stone pagodas from the Unified Silla period, and others are displayed throughout, allowing visitors to appreciate them while strolling. Additionally, diverse and interesting exhibitions are held year-round in the planning exhibition hall and special exhibition hall, and to activate museum education, various educational facilities have been established in the Haesol Hall and customized educational programs by generation and social class are operated throughout the year.
