The National Asian Culture Center is a world-class complex art and culture space where Asian cultural exchange, cultural resource collection and research, content creation and production, exhibitions, performances, archives, and distribution all take place in one location. The National Asian Culture Center showcases approximately 40 diverse exhibitions annually, including permanent exhibitions and planned exhibitions highlighting the Center's representative content, as well as residency exhibitions and special exhibitions, which the public can enjoy and share. The exhibitions reflect the "spirit of the times" to which people worldwide can relate, based on Gwangju's regional identity as a cradle of democracy and human rights. Furthermore, the Center actively presents exhibitions that utilize artistic expression media fused with science and technology, founded on creativity, innovation, and expertise, thereby sharing with visitors the diverse possibilities of contemporary art. The National Asian Culture Center produces more than 30 experimental performances annually featuring Asian contemporary discourse as subject matter across genres including concerts, theater, dance, classical music, and talk shows. Collaborating with renowned creators from Korea and abroad, the Center develops ACC's unique Asian content performances, international co-creation and co-production performances, and creation and production performances for children and youth. Additionally, the Center also hosts various performances enjoyable to all ages including brunch concerts, super classics, big door cinema, Wednesday theater, regional cooperation performances, year-end concert, and New Year's concert. To spread the spirit of democracy, human rights, and peace of the May 18 Democratic Uprising, the Center presents various exhibitions, performances, and events each May during "ACC May Culture Week," including songs of May mothers, May story puzzles, and May stories. In addition, the Center operates diverse festivals and events throughout the year to be enjoyed in outdoor spaces. Asian Culture Week, Asian Literature Festival, ACC World Music Festival, HOW FUN, ACT Festival, ACC Reading Books, Yoga Festival, ACC City Run, and other diverse and dynamic programs in which visitors participate unfold throughout the venue. At the Children's Culture Center, a creative art playground where children's dreams grow, families with children visit year-round to experience interactive exhibitions, libraries, performances, and creative art education, developing sensitivity and creativity through creative play. At the Asian Culture Museum, an urban museum where diverse Asian cultures can be encountered at a glance, visitors can view permanent exhibitions and planned exhibitions based on Asian content at any time, and at the library, can freely browse specialized books and periodicals on Asian culture and art as well as enjoy cultural events.
