1,500 Years Together: Funerary Objects from Queen Muleungwang's Wooden Coffin

1,500년의 동행-무령왕비 목관 내 부장품

This exhibition commemorates the 1,500th anniversary of Queen Muleungwang of Baekje's passing, inviting visitors to explore royal life through her funerary objects. Laid peacefully with pillow and footrest, the queen was adorned with ornaments and silver bracelets. A crown ornament expressing hopes for rebirth in paradise rested near her head, while elaborate slippers decorated with phoenixes and flowers graced her feet. Beside the queen were silver bowls inscribed with Baekje cosmology, bronze vessels, spoons, and personal grooming tools. The exhibition features pieces long kept in storage, including newly restored head and foot supports, alongside rarely displayed bronze implements and serving vessels.

🎟️ How to book — Official museum site

  1. 1

Check opening hours on the museum's official site

Many Korean national museums close one day a week, often Mondays — worth checking before you make the trip.

  2. 2

Book a time slot for the most popular exhibitions

The most anticipated temporary exhibitions sometimes limit access to online time-slot reservations, especially on weekends.

  3. 3

    Permanent collections are often free

Only certain special or temporary exhibitions charge admission — the permanent collection itself is free to enter at most national museums.

  4. 4

Book ahead for groups or guided tours

School groups and guided tours generally need to be booked directly with the museum ahead of the visit.
