Drawing Our Garments: Portraits in Traditional Dress, Gift of Kwon O-chang

우리 옷을 그리다: 권오창 화백 기증 복식인물화

The National Daegu Museum presents the work of painter Kwon O-chang (Dong-gang), who devoted half a century to reviving historical figures and their traditional costumes on canvas. His paintings restore color and life to figures known only through black-and-white photographs, reconstructing complete outfits from scattered elements. The 155 compositions and 168 paintings, resulting from meticulous research and scholarship, were generously donated to the museum. Running from July 7 to September 27, 2026, this exhibition honors the artist's significant gift and celebrates the beauty of our garments and culture.

  1. 1

Check opening hours on the museum's official site

Many Korean national museums close one day a week, often Mondays — worth checking before you make the trip.

  2. 2

Book a time slot for the most popular exhibitions

The most anticipated temporary exhibitions sometimes limit access to online time-slot reservations, especially on weekends.

  3. 3

    Permanent collections are often free

Only certain special or temporary exhibitions charge admission — the permanent collection itself is free to enter at most national museums.
