An aging, deteriorating multi-unit house on the outskirts of Seoul is home to neighbors carrying their own stories and deprivations. One sweltering summer day, the humble peppers growing in a small rooftop garden vanish—stolen by a fellow resident. This trivial incident sparks debate among the residents, particularly for one who sees in it the reflection of a crumbling world. A neighborly dispute gradually transforms into collective upheaval, probing the predatory nature of capitalism and the moral bankruptcy of South Korean society. Directed by Kim Kwang-bo and written by Jang Woo-jae in 2017, this masterwork examines these issues with precision.
