Silla: Gold and the Sacred
신라, 황금과 신성 Silla:l’Or et le Sacré
Presented at the Musée Guimet to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Franco-Korean relations, this exhibition offers Europe's first comprehensive view of Silla's achievements. It traces the history and culture of this kingdom over nearly a thousand years, from its emergence through the unification of the Three Kingdoms to its decline. Among the masterpieces are the golden crown and belt from Gyeongju, the gold sword of Gyerim-ro attesting to international exchanges, and Roman glassware from Cheonma Tomb. Buddhist artworks, including various statues, accompany rare manuscripts, including Hyecho's travel journal 《Record of the Journey to the Western Regions》 held at the French National Library. The experience culminates in a recreation of the Seokguram Grotto, allowing visitors to immerse themselves three-dimensionally in Silla's profound spirituality and artistry.
