The Kingdom of Gold: The Essence of Silla Cultural Heritage

금관의 나라 – 신라문화유산의 정수-

This exhibition marks the first presentation in China of Silla's rich heritage, the ancient Korean kingdom that flourished for nearly a millennium. Through three major themes—golden culture, international exchange, and Buddhist art—Silla's historical and cultural context is presented three-dimensionally. Gold crowns and refined metalwork embody the kingdom's expanding power and confidence, while demonstrating Silla's influence extending well beyond East Asia. Buddhism profoundly shaped Silla's intellectual and artistic life, with temples densely populating the Gyeongju region. This exhibition invites audiences worldwide to develop a deeper understanding of this remarkable ancient Korean heritage.

  1. 1

Check opening hours on the museum's official site

Many Korean national museums close one day a week, often Mondays — worth checking before you make the trip.

  2. 2

Book a time slot for the most popular exhibitions

The most anticipated temporary exhibitions sometimes limit access to online time-slot reservations, especially on weekends.

  3. 3

    Permanent collections are often free

Only certain special or temporary exhibitions charge admission — the permanent collection itself is free to enter at most national museums.

  4. 4
