The Republic of Korea History Museum is a museum that documents the trajectory of the Republic of Korea from the opening period in the late 19th century to the present day, and is the first national museum of modern and contemporary history, which opened on December 26, 2012. It was established to share with the public the history of the Republic of Korea, which has developed by overcoming hardships and adversities, through exhibitions, education, investigations, research, and collection of materials. The museum explains the history of the Republic of Korea by dividing it into four exhibition halls by period. The first exhibition hall features "The Dawn of the Republic of Korea," the second exhibition hall features "The Establishment of the Foundation of the Republic of Korea," the third exhibition hall features "The Growth and Development of the Republic of Korea," and the fourth exhibition hall features "The Advancement of the Republic of Korea and Leap to the World." In the children's museum, children can learn about modern and contemporary history through direct experience. Furthermore, through special exhibitions on various themes covering the entirety of modern and contemporary history, you can examine in-depth content on the modern and contemporary history of the Republic of Korea. The museum also operates various educational programs and cultural events.
