Life and Ideals in Gangwon

강원의 삶과 이상향

Relaunched in 2026, these spaces tell the memories of past generations about Gangwon's most beautiful sites—Geumgangsan and the Eight Views of Gwandong—and the life that Gangwon people have created and preserved on this land. Three new immersive, interactive, and map-based content experiences offer an indirect experience of visiting Geumgangsan and the Eight Views, now difficult to access in North Korea. Discover Gangwon's history and culture through these new stories and technologies.

🎟️ How to bookOfficial museum site

  1. 1

Check opening hours on the museum's official site

Many Korean national museums close one day a week, often Mondays — worth checking before you make the trip.

  2. 2

Book a time slot for the most popular exhibitions

The most anticipated temporary exhibitions sometimes limit access to online time-slot reservations, especially on weekends.

  3. 3

    Permanent collections are often free

Only certain special or temporary exhibitions charge admission — the permanent collection itself is free to enter at most national museums.

  4. 4

Book ahead for groups or guided tours

School groups and guided tours generally need to be booked directly with the museum ahead of the visit.
