About

The National Museum of Modern Art Deoksugung, located within Deoksugung Palace in Jung-gu, Seoul, is a museum specializing in Korean modern art, serving as a cultural space where visitors can appreciate the flow and value of Korean modern art. The museum was created using the western wing of Seokjocheon Stone Gallery of Deoksugung Palace, and the building, completed in 1938 in modern architectural style, is equipped with exhibition halls, relaxation areas, and an art shop. The museum operates various special exhibitions and permanent collections focused on modern art, as well as conducting research, educational programs, and academic events, providing opportunities to deepen understanding of modern art. With the ability to appreciate modern art while enjoying the historic palace scenery of Deoksugung, it is an excellent cultural space for enjoying both history and art together. The museum is highly accessible, located approximately 70 meters on foot from Exit 1 of City Hall Station on the Seoul Metro Lines 1 and 2.
